Personal Growth & Life Enhancement
Sometimes we may feel that there is nothing particularly wrong but would
still be interested in counselling to develop better self awareness, relationship
and communication skills. CSI is able to work with clients using various
teaching methods, clinical activities and homework assignments designed
to maximize opportunity for personal insight and growth.
Trauma Recovery
Each individual experiences life differently. The effects of particular
tragedies such as domestic violence, rape, child abuse or more global
tragedies as aircraft accidents or Sept. 11, 2001 have unique impact on
our lives and coping mechanisms. CSI is able to help and support individuals
sort out the effects of trauma and learn how their responses to certain
events can "trigger" coping strategies that may be unhelpful
or unwelcome. Counselling will also include help the individual to develop
some new coping skills and personal strategies so that the effects of
previous triggers are understood and minimized.
Counselling may also include a significant others. The work with another
in recovery will serve to develop a natural supportive relationship. .
It also servces to help both partners gain understanding of relationship
needs , appropriate communication about the trauma through an understanding
environment.
Vocational
Creating Solutions can offer counselling for individuals
seeking perspective regarding their present employment and career situation.
Solution Focused counselling will help the individual gain perspective
about their potential and possible opportunities for career choices. Services
may also include some vocational testing to assist the individual to consider
new options.
Mental Health Treathment
Counselling is one of many ways individuals can find help in coping and
managing certain mental health issues such as, mood disorders (anxiety
- depression), learning disability and pain management. Counselling looks
to support individuals in their situation and help them discover new and
more productive ways of coping day to day situations. While not all counselling
may affect a "cure" the work done with the client developing
new solutions for their lives may help reduce the effect of symptoms so
more normative living is possible.
Service can include consultation with a medical practitioner. Counselling
may also include others such as family, friends or partners for time to
time. The length of counselling will depend on the specific issue and
the impact on living the person experiences.
