Blended Family
Establishing a family is hard work. And establishing
a family with members from previous relationships is all the more complex.
The blended family is unique because it begins with more than just 2 adults
but includes children with their own thoughts feelings, and values with
present and former family members.
The opportunity for role and responsibilities being confused is high.
Communication between members will be ever evolving and dynamic. Even
the simplest routines and activities such as sharing bathroom space or
parenting roles can cause great confusion and conflict.
Counselling will provide an environment for parents, partners and children
to clarify feelings, values expectations. It also is a place for the family
to develop a new language and communication style that fits for all and
helps each member begin to feel like apart of something important while
maintaining respect for each others past and present values
Intergenerational Communication & Mediation
Some times communication between parents and children are
not as accurate, respectful or well understood. This can be complicated
further by communication between 3 or for generations. If left to stew
difficult communication can lead to long-term relational difficulties.
CSIs Solution Focused approach helps families get to the root of
their issues in a safe, respectful and practical fashion. Counselling
includes also skill development and practical tips on how to improve communication
process within a family. This results in clarifying relational bonds and
boundaries so that families gain greater overall functioning.
Intimacy
Some of the more significant issues for couples and families is a sense
of loss or changes to intimacy. Individual reactions to intimacy may have
been affected by previous trauma or present issues in a relationship.
Counselling will help couples identify their feelings and impressions
of intimacy for their relationship. Attention is given to couple in develop
a greater appreciation for each others cues, needs and how to communicate
those in a meaningful fashion.
Couples struggling with issues related to previous trauma may require
individual counselling to help address specific issues.
Divorce & Separation
Counselling has proven to be a both practical and benefit
for couples and families when relationships become full of complex emotions
and values related that render one or both partners on the verge of dissolution
of the relationship.
Counselling at this stage can take any direction form helping couple bring
resolution to their issues so that they can begin fresh and avoid dissolving
their relationship. Counselling can be effective for families in the midst
of a legal process to help clarify emotions and move toward objective
and mutually satisfying goals.
