The same training is available for individuals and groups who wish to obtain general or special counsellor training and supervision. Counsellor training requires prerequisite of completed university or college education.

Introduction to Solution-Focused Counselling

As the name implies training begins with supporting participants in developing a solution focused perspective and introduction of the basic theorycounsellor skills and their use during purposeful interviews. At the completion of the course the participant will be familiar with a solution focused approach and have appreciation and beginning competency in the use of several skills. The course is designed for the beginning counsellor and is a prerequisite for future training in the agency.

Advanced Counsellor Training

Here the participant begins to bring the specific skills together with a sense of purpose. Training includes advanced exercises to assist the participant to gain increased skills over different interviewing circumstances. At this stage, the participant will also be exposed to more advance theory with the goal of beginning to integrate theory and skills over a whole clinical interview. Material will also introduce the participant to pitfalls and traps in counselling.

Solution Focused Approach with Families / Couples

This course is specially designed to help the beginning counsellor to manage the counselling skills with more than one client at a time. The course helps identify and understand family system dynamics and the effect on the counselling session. Material will also explore the nature of the counsellor and client relationship and some skills to help avoid clinical problems and setbacks.

Solution Focused Mediation

Creating Solutions Inc. has gained success at providing conflict mediation through a solution focused perspective. This workshop helps supervisors, employers and business people develop a more skilled and affective approach to interviewing and mediation by applying solution focused techniques. This workshop looks at the basics of mediation, application for the individual business person and application in an organization and application for community / neighbourhood disputes.
